- Technical research and planning, particularly in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, use of pass-through entities, and taxation of investment and financial products
- Tax strategies, including using entity status as a means of reducing overall tax burden for active investors, e.g., hedge funds, real estate funds and private equity funds
- Member of board of directors of our related firm, Cohen & Company, Ltd.
RECENT PROJECTS:
- Structured the sale of a large loan portfolio and payoff at a discount related secured debt in a manner that avoided cancelation of debt income, saving clients in excess of $2.5 million in additional federal taxes
